Golf Course Assistant Superintendent

Must know Golf Course routine maintenance, equipment operation, golf course setup, irrigation repair, and chemical application knowledge.
You will assist in managing the maintenance of all aspects of the golf course including the surrounding grounds. Also assist with the management of the turf employees which may include hiring, training, safety, employee supervision and scheduling.
Immediate opening:
Located close to the Brandon, Ruskin, St Petersburg, Parrish, Wimauma and Bradenton areas
Full Time - Salary Position
Some Weekends & Holidays required

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make recommendations to the Superintendent on the daily condition of the golf course
- Work within turf staff policy both internally and at the management level
- Practice and enforce all aspects of Golf Course Maintenance and Health & Safety Policy Manuals
- Assume management role should the Superintendent be off site or in meetings
- Help train staff on all machinery, including safety procedures
- Maintain buildings, equipment and property in a professional manner
- Regularly and accurately contribute to Superintendent's pesticide and fertilizer management practices.
- Be able to repair and maintain the irrigation system
- Be able to calibrate, apply and record fertilizer and pesticides
- Be able to set up the golf course for play.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a minimum of 2 years formal education, degree or diploma in turf grass management or in process of obtaining a designation or at least two years’ experience maintaining a golf course.
- Approach responsibilities in an organized and energetic manner.
- Possesses good organizational skills.
- Must possess logical and scientific thinking to solve problems.
- Ability to carry out and communicate to others detailed, written or verbal instructions, as well as to retrieve information from technical courses.
- Ability to visually inspect golf course conditions and report findings.
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates.
- Follows health and safety rules according to policy.
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Factors:
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor. May be required to work in an environment that includes such activities as bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. May need to lift up to 80 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Most of the time may be outdoors exposed to such elements as heat, rain, wind, cold.
