Mechanic – Golf Course

Located close to: Brandon, St Petersburg, Bradenton and Ruskin areas

Full-time position

Hourly Rate:  depends upon experience

Must pass a background check

Purpose of Position:

This is a key position and works directly with the Golf Course Superintendent to repair and maintain all golf course equipment.

  • Inspect, diagnose, sharpen, adjust and repair equipment as needed.
  • Knowledge of electric and gas powered equipment is required .
  • Required to work on equipment out in the elements as well as at the maintenance shop.
  • Checks oil and tire pressure regularly.
  • Order and stock parts as needed.
  • Keeps logs of all work done and work that needs to be done.
  • Keep an organized and clean work area.
  • Required to operate all equipment and work on the golf course using equipment as needed.
  • Promotes a safe working environment in accordance with safety policies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Three years minimum experience in maintaining golf course equipment.
  • Working knowledge of fluid hydraulics, automotive electronics, gas and arc welding, fabrication of specialty tools, gas and diesel engines.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems.
  • Knowledge of reel/bed knife grinding and maintenance.
  • Proven experience providing golf course equipment repair and maintaining equipment at optimal running condition. 
  • Think outside the box to come up with solutions.
  • Possess good organizational skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to carry out and communicate to others detailed, written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment conditions and report findings.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility with schedule with weekend work required at times.

Physical Factors:

Ability to perform heavy physical labor.  Will be required to work in an environment that includes such activities as bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.  May need to lift up to 80 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs., frequently.
