Experience Requirements:
1-2 Years - Spray Technician Experience Preferred.
Special Requirements:
Must have a current Florida Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to acquire one within the first six months of employment (if acquired company will reinburst for).
Candidate must be hard working, self-motivated, team player, and have a keen eye for attention to detail.
Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of the following types of equipment:
•Mechanically pressurized spray equipment
•Hand-operated spray equipment
•Hand-operated rotary spreaders
•Hand-operated drop spreaders
•Utility tractors
The chemical technician, under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent, performs chemical applications on golf course properties; fertilizes tees, greens and fairways; and applies chemicals on the greens. The chemical technician is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). This position is also responsible for compiling preliminary reports of pesticide usage for the golf course superintendent.
Functions
•Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
•Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations, and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.
•Tracks chemical inventory.
Daily tasks will include all aspects of golf course maintenance.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or general education degree.
- Prefer golf course experience.
- 1-2 years spray tech experience.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to understand, interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and operate; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, push, pull, reach and occasionally lift and/or move 50lbs.
Work Environment:
Outside work for extended periods of time and precautions should be taken. Ability to work in all kinds of weather. Often required to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel.
Additional Comments:
- Must be at least 18 years old, be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be on call for emergencies after hours.
- Shift starts at approx. 6:00 am.
